If I may quote Mark Twain: "Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society."
I'm still not sure what to make of this—does it mean that as long as we are clothed, we have an identity, or am I missing something here? So I did a little digging and reading between the lines. The quote simply means: "What you wear decides who you are." I still cannot be sure if this is the drift, or do I stand corrected? Either way, at the time it seemed like a decent explanation.

Is the good 'ol Raymond advertisement—The complete man—weaved around this thought? If this is true, what becomes of those like me who believe in slipping into a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, eh? if this means anything to anyone at all: Nothing even comes as close to "comfort" and "confidence" than a decent pair of jeans and its torso components. It can be rugged, chic, classy, you name it, you are it. Importantly, it's stress-free, simple, and easy on the wallet. Maintenance? Simple. Availability? Anywhere almost, except maybe a grocery or a departmental store.
Then there are the evil counterparts—salwaars, sarees, and more of the kind. Way too glossy, helluva trouble, inches and inches of just fabric—inside and outside; I mean, who has that kind of patience! I don't, and it's way out of my league. I don't mind wearing a thing or two for them occasions, but certainly not on a daily basis. Most would disagree, but this is a perspective.
Life seems a tad smoother for men when it comes to molding themselves with fabric. It's mostly the usual—get suited and booted and you are ready to go! Exceptions—yes; they will always be around. At least, men don't have to choose from one stack of fabric to another; they keep it simple. If not, they really are great pretenders.
So if "clothes make a man," so be it—true or otherwise; people are entitled their opinions and choices. To me, a decent "T" and a pair of jeans is as good as it gets.
